Second Chance Animal Shelter Holding Adoption Event this Weekend

Second Chance Animal Shelter has cats and kittens for adoption at a special event Aug 24. “This Saturday from 11a.m. until 3p.m., we are having a cat and kitten adoption event, so we would encourage everyone to come on down and find their new best furry friend,” Treasurer/Fundraising Coordinator Leanne Bloom said. The animals at Second Chance are friendly, engaging and courageous. Right when you walk in, they begin to snare you into activity. “One of the benefits of adopting from our shelter is we utilize a foster program. So, a lot of these kittens are in homes that have people, kids, dogs, cats in general, chaos. So, when they get adopted into their new home, we find that they fit in very easily and usually very quickly. And so, to start the adoption process, if you think you’re interested in adopting, you can contact us and do the pre-adoption interview. It just means you’re pre-approved and you can come in the day of the event and take your furry friend home,” said Bloom. If you are not pre-approved, you can still come in and get approved the day of the event.

Meet Mini and Little Susie, two sisters looking for their forever home. They are very playful and charming. Purdy and Nemo are a mother and son match. She is one year old, and he is 12 weeks. Lastly, we have Oakley and Stormy, a boy and girl, both 12 weeks. “Adoption fees for a single kitten are $100 or two for $150. And we do have a $25 refundable spay neuter deposit that once kitty is fixed, you can get that back. We also have cats that come vet checked, they have their first vaccinations, they’re dewormed, litter box trained, and they come with a certificate for a free spare neuter when they’re old enough. So, you are not going to find a better deal on adopting a new furry friend,” Bloom said. Even I was pulled in and wanting to adopt before the shoot was over. “One of the benefits of adopting from a shelter is we have a three-week trial period, so we want to make sure that kitty and you are a good fit. The other benefit that we have is we offer basically a lifetime guarantee on your cat. If something happens that you aren’t able to care for the cat or unfortunately with the way rental situations are, we would be the first call to make to be able to help you,” Added Bloom.
