Reversing the verdict

OSCODA, Mich. — Last Monday, the Oscoda Area Schools Board of Education voted to switch from in-class learning to remote learning for two weeks. In addition, the school voted to pause competitions for spring sports for two weeks, due to rising cases of COVID-19. Forty-eight hours later, the board voted to pause competitions for spring sports until April 19.

“The process the board utilized was really good,” said Oscoda Area Schools Superintendent Scott Moore. “They put the safety interests of the kids in the community first. Then they thought, maybe there are some things that we can do to adjust to it. I commend them for the way that they handled it.”

Starting April 19, only one person per spectator is allowed to attend an Oscoda sporting event. In addition, transportation for sporting events will not be offered until further notice.
