Residents vote yes for ambulance millage

ALPENA, Mich.— It’s been a week since the primary election and the Alpena County Fire Department received the green light to move forward with much needed upgrades. Voters said yes to the ambulance millage increasing the previous millage from 1 mil to 1.5 mil.

This increase will allow technology upgrades for ambulances and 911 dispatch radios in addition to first responder education programs. The millage will also aid in purchasing medical supplies and advanced life support equipment.

Deputy Chief Rob Edmonds says, “The millage is going to keep our services rolling.” The millage is in place for the next four years and will also allow for the purchase of a new ambulance.
