Reese Wisniewski scores six times to help Alpena shutout Sault Area 8-0

ALPENA, MI –  The Alpena girls soccer team’s first Big North Conference game was a tough loss against Petoskey. Now with another non–conference game, they hoped to bounce back against Sault Area.

The wind was kicking up today for this game, but Alpena wouldn’t be deterred. First half, Reese Wisniewski with the ball for Alpena. She works inside the box and looks for an opening. Her shot is just able to get pass the keeper and she scores. Alpena makes it 1–0 in the first ten minutes of the match.

Now Megan Dubie takes a quick touch and fires right at the goalie. The ball goes under her legs and through for a goal. Tough break for the goalie but great one for the Wildcats.

Now the Wildcats pass it around and find Reese Wisniewski again. The keeper tries to stop her from shooting but Reese gets the shot off in time and gets that one in the net and scores. It’s 3–0 Alpena and they don’t plan on stopping any time soon.

Reese gets another through ball sent her way. She’s got a few defenders on her tail but is able to hold them off, and takes a shot in the bottom left corner and scores again. A hat trick for Reese Wisniewski and it’s now 4–0 Wildcats.

Second half now, Kameron Schultz crosses it into the box. Megan Dubie with a nice chest touch, she takes an extra touch and fires on net and scores. Megan with her second goal of the day, and the Wildcats continue to pile it on.

Alpena now with a penalty kick after a Sault Area hand ball. Reese Wisniewski to take the penalty and it’s a picture perfect penalty for another goal for Alpena.

The Wildcats get their second shutout win of the year and it’s by a massive margin. Final score is 8–0. The girls team will now travel to face Cheboygan on Wednesday.
