ALPENA, Mich.– The city council voted to amend its medical marijuana law Monday night.
With a 3 to 2 vote, recreational marijuana businesses will be allowed to operate in Alpena.
Nearly a month ago, I sat down with mayor Matt Waligora to find out why he thought the idea was the right one for the community.
“It’s already accessible to all of our residents. If it’s accessible, then why not make it locally accessible. You get it from somebody else and that starts the whole where is it, where does it come from, what’s cut into it.”
Although recreational marijuana was passed Monday night, it could still be some time before you see weed business pop up.
