Recount Confirms Victory For Nerkowski In County Commissioner Race

It was an election that was originally decided by a single vote.

The race for Alpena County Commissioner District 3 was a tight one between incumbent Camile Nerkowski and challenger Richard Neumann.

Following the results, Neumann requested a recount, the results of which were released today.

After conducting the recount, it was determined that the incumbent Commissioner Nerkowski did defeat her challenger by a slightly larger margin…three votes.

When the recount was requested Neumann was content with the results but found it necessary to request the recount to show support to all those who voted for him.

A slight issue occurred with the recount, as ballots from one of the precincts were uncountable according to state law, as the number of ballots did not much the amount recorded.

The final tally was 796 votes for Nerkowski, and 793 for Neumann.
