Power Outage Stops the Lunch Rush
At noon Thursday, there was a power outage affecting most people near the Bagley Street and M
–32 intersection. The Alpena Power Company was able to figure out quickly why the electrical grid had an outage.
The reason for the outage was a power distribution wire failing close to the Bagley St. entrance of Walgreens and Meijer. The outage area was along M–32, and Bagley Street between M–32 and 3rd avenue.
The Alpena Power Company crews restored power to the affected area in under an hour, and got the long lines of traffic flowing again with the help of the Alpena Township Fire Department and Michigan State Police.
