Police Responding to Gunshots at Michigan State University
Shots were reported on MSU’s campus at around 8:40 p.m.
Initial shots were reported near Berkey Hall. Police are currently searching through other buildings on campus attempting to locate the suspect. It’s also being reported that there may be multiple shooters. There are also reports of multiple injuries.

9:40- A 911 caller has reported sounds of screaming at Phillips Hall.
9:45- A caller is reporting a possible suspect near Village Drive wearing a mask.
9:46- Four shots reported outside of Hubbard Hall.
9:52- An officer is reporting the smell of gunshots or fireworks in Akers Hall.
9:54- Police are moving to south Hubbard Hall with breaching tools.
10:00- MSU spokesperson confirms one fatality (CNN).
10:02- A caller reports gunshots outside of McDonel Hall.
10:03- Callers are reporting someone threatening multiple people with a firearm at Cedar Village.
10:06- Police are investigating a possible pitcure of the suspect, a white male with facial hair, that was reportedly making threats around 6:20 p.m. today.
10:10- Police say Cedar Village is clear.
10:12- Basement of Hubbard Hall has been cleared.
10:17- Police are starting to move students to Akers Hall from Conrad Hall.
10:31- Callers are reporting shots fired at Abbot Hall.
10:56- Three teams are clearing IM Circle.
11:00- Shots reported from Wonders Hall.
11:05- Police confirm shots at Berkey Hall left multiple victims. Five victims with life-threatening information. Police beleive there is one suspect. The suspect is a black male with short stature and a ball cap.
11:06- Police say suspect is still at large.
11:00- Police believe they have a photo of the suspect and are expected to give another update at 12:00 a.m.
11:32- Brody Hall is clear except the students sheltering in place.
11:40- Michigan State Police confirm three fatalities in addition to five with life-threatening injuries.
12:05- Police approached the suspect when he turned the gun on himself. (CNN)
12:27- Michigan State Police confirm that suspect is deceased. There is no longer a threat to campus. Police believe there was only one shooter.
12:28: MSU police confirm three deaths as well as five victims with life-threatening injuries.
