Oscoda’s Kellstrom takes volleyball talents to Northwood, Hess commits to Lake Superior State

OSCODA, Mich. — Two Oscoda Owls signed their letters to continue their athletic careers on Wednesday. Macy Kellstrom signed her National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at Northwood University, while Drew Hess made his commitment to play basketball at Lake Superior State University as a walk-on.

Kellstrom brings a lot of experience to Northwood’s squad. She played varsity volleyball for three seasons under Melissa Curley. Three seasons with three school records.

Kellstrom’s School Records: 
Most kills in a match: 24 kills
Most kills in a season: 439 kills
Most aces in a season: 109 aces

In addition, she has a number of honors and awards under her belt for her efforts, including all-state honorable mention.

Kellstrom’s Honors:
2020: First Team – Big Dipper, All-Region, All-State Honorable Mention
2019: First Team – Big Dipper, All-Region
2018: First Team – Big Dipper, All-Region

After four stellar seasons of playing high school basketball, Hess racked up over 1,700 points. In three of his four seasons, Hess has won three district titles (two with Mio and one with Oscoda). Individually, Hess has earned multiple honors from all-conference to all-state recognition.
