Oscoda Community Dinner goes drive-thru

OSCODA, Mich.– The Oscoda Community Thanksgiving Dinner took a drive–thru form Saturday.

The annual dinner normally takes place in United Methodist Church on U.S. 23. This year, however the volunteers set up a curbside pick–up with 20 volunteers cooking and running out hot turkey dinners. Using just 19 turkeys, they served over 350 meals.

The dinner packages included turkey, cranberry sauce, potatoes, and a pie.

Organizer Kay Gaines said it’s a community effort.

“Everything for our meal today was donated. The potatoes and stuffing mix, and vegetables, and most of what we need. And then the people from United Methodist Church donate the turkeys.”

The funds raised by the meal benefit a local charity organization.
