Northern Michigan corrections officers graduate
ALPENA, Mich. –Students training for a career in law enforcement graduated Tuesday at ACC.
They trained to take jobs working in area jails. Subjects covered in the program include intake, security, and prisoner behavior.
Students come from six different counties, including Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, and some in the UP.
Graduate Lisa Utter said in her speech that the job comes with burdens and blessings.
“This job is more than just a 9 to 5. This job will follow us home and give us nightmares, and, in the worst case, PTSD. But it will also provide us with the satisfaction of helping others when they are at their lowest.”
