Next Level Wednesday – Becoming a Chef
ALPENA, Mich. — On today’s Next Level Wednesday, Owner and Chef Eric Peterson shared his journey about becoming a chef. It all started when he was little and would bake cookies with his grandmother in her kitchen.
Peterson said the love for cooking never left him and as he became an adult, he enrolled into a one-year culinary program. He said you can enroll in a four-year degree program but that choice is up to the individual.
Peterson shared a good way to determine your passion. He said it is when you do something and at the end of that day you could still do it some more. Peterson event traveled to San Francisco and asked chefs if he could work for free to perfect his craft.
He said it is a demanding job and when people are “hangry”, you must get that food to them.
