NARCAN Saves Ocqueoc Township Man’s Life

A 22-year-old man in Ocqueoc Township was saved from overdosing, after deputies administered the opiate blocking NARCAN to save his life.

On Saturday, deputies from the Presque Isle County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of the unresponsive man in Ocqueoc Township.

Upon arrival CPR was initiated by Ocqueoc-Bearinger first responders, but deputies determined that the condition was induced by illegal drug use.

Deputies then deployed two cartridges of NARCAN upon the unresponsive man with successful results. The subject was transported by Onaway Ambulance Services to McLaren Cheboygan for treatment.

Presque Isle County Sheriff’s Office say deputies have recently been trained to use NARCAN upon suspected overdoses or accidental use of drugs by individuals.

In this case the NARCAN administered by the deputies is attributed with saving the 22–year–old man’s life.
