Muggy and Stormy Father’s Day Weekend

High temperatures today were in the upper 70s with comfortable humidity levels. Both the temperatures and humidity will be rising this weekend.

Late tonight through tomorrow midday a few showers and thunderstorms will rumble across Northeast Michigan. There should be several rain-free periods tomorrow afternoon and evening, though a couple isolated, pop-up thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. High temperatures will warm into the mid-80s around Alpena, although it will be cooler at the immediate shoreline.

It won’t be the best weekend for beachgoers with thunderstorms Saturday morning-afternoon. Although a few hours of dry weather are expected Sunday afternoon, it will be extremely hot and humid. On Sunday, there are a couple of chances for showers and thunderstorms in the morning and then in the evening. Wave heights will reach about 2 feet on Saturday and 1 foot on Sunday.

On Saturday, the greatest chance of showers and thunderstorms will be morning-midday, and high temperatures will reach the 80s. A chance of showers and thunderstorms will be around Sunday morning, followed by a rain-free period Sunday afternoon, then another chance of thunderstorms Sunday evening. High temperatures will soar into the lower 90s on Sunday. Monday will be rainy with a high temperature near 80 degrees. Finally, it will become drier and cooler on Tuesday with a high temperature in the 70s.
