Montmorency County Seeks Diverse Community Members for New Board on Materials Management
In a board meeting on August 15, 2024, Montmorency County discussed a number of topics. One topic discussed in the meeting was the formation of a new materials management plan. The county is in need of members for a new committee to formulate that plan. “So, our county just signed on to do a multi-county management plan, a materials management plan. A five-county plan for materials management. And within that plan we are required to get a committee together from all these agencies and Alpena County is our delegated approving agency. So, they will oversee the main part of it. We are receiving funding from the state to have this plan. Every county will get funding and when you create a multi-county plan, you get a $10,000 extra amount given to your county. So, we’re looking for people who are in recycling, industry or businesses. Members of county agencies, township agencies, anybody who has a hand in the community that would like to be a part of the decision making on this materials management. We’re looking for interested members to submit their resume or their information to the county. Then we will review the final nominations. All the information is on our website. It gives the roles of each planning committee member. So, you can see on there our recycling materials management plan, all of our resolutions and the interlocal agreement with the counties that we’re working with. It’s voluntary, they would be coming and just basically attending meetings and giving their input to help make that plan work for the community that we live in,” Montmorency County Controller Aprille Williamson said.
