Mio Thunderbolt Players Rewrite MHSAA Record Book
MIO, MI- The Mio Thunderbolts may have finished 4-5 on the 2022 football season, but they set multiple state passing records in the process.
Mio Quarterback Austin Fox set a state record for passing touchdowns in a game (9), passing yards in a game (621) and passing yards in a season (3,236). Fox also threw for 41 touchdown passes, four scores shy of another state record.
Wide receiver Gage Long broke MHSAA 8-man football receiving record as he totaled 1,739 receiving yards on the season.
Fellow receivers Nathan Hurst and Jameson Cooper each had over 500 receiving yards on the season. The Mio offense averaged 47 points per game during the 2022 season.
