Mid Michigan College offers CDL program

ALPENA, Mich. — Many industries continue to bounce back from the pandemic but one industry which made the Michigan’s Hot 50 jobs list is pleading for employees.

Mid Michigan College’s Associate Vice President of  Workforce and Economic Development Scott Govitz said the list projected job openings through 2028.

Govitz said now is a good time to take advantage of their three–week truck driving program where students learn to drive big rigs and will receive a Class A license.  Once students complete their first two weeks, they move on to the third week which entails hands on road training.

Govitz said there are a number of reasons why so many truck driving jobs are available.  He adds that an aging population and aging workforce are a couple of reasons.

Programs begin every two weeks the salary ranges from $32,000 to $50,000 a year.
