Michigan’s 1st Congressional District Candidate, Dwight Brady Visits Northeast Michigan
It was a busy day for Michigan’s 1st Congressional District Candidate, Dwight Brady. Brady made his way through Northeast Michigan to speak to residents about some concerns they may have about the area they call home.
Some of Brady’s stops included the Alcona Heath Center in Lincoln, the Alcona Senior Citizens Center, the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, and MidMichigan Medical Center Alpena.
One idea Brady and residents of Alcona brainstormed on was how to remodel the senior citizens center.
“I was at the senior center today in Alcona County looking at that facility and maybe some things that could be done to create a better facility. Maybe not getting a new one, but maybe re–purposing another building and get some nice partnerships going on within that community that would make life much better in Alcona County. We want to do that in every single county. I’m just here listening and touring to find out more about each county,” Michigan’s 1st Congressional District Candidate, Dr. Dwight Brady said.
Alcona is one of the poorest counties in the state. Brady believes that those statistics can change.
“Yes, you’re right it is one of the poorest counties in the state, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. But because it is we have to work with counties like that in their current state we have to look toward the future,” he added.
When it comes to Alpena, there are a lot of concerns about the great lakes. After speaking with NOAA, Brady claim to be impressed with the amount of research and tourism the city brings.
“I had no idea they had such a large preserve here, and how much it meant to the people of this community. That was very important to make that stop,” Brady said.
