Meet the 2018-19 Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks

Meet the 2018-19 ACC Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks. (October 29, 2018)

ALPENA — The Alpena Community College basketball Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks held a meet and greet on Monday, October 29, 2018 for fans to catch a glimpse of the skills these two teams will bring to the court on opening day. Both men’s and women’s teams play at home on Saturday, November 3rd against Mid Michigan CC.

Mark Jacobs enters his second season as the Lumberjacks head coach with bigger players and more depth on the roster with 14 athletes, 12 of which are over 6-foot. ACC returns local guard Camren DeCaire from Alpena. The first game will be a test of chemistry.

“I feel like we are going to be a lot better,” said DeCaire. “We’re a lot bigger, a lot stronger, we have more length and a deeper bench. I’m just excited to see what we got.”

Bobby Allen and new assistant coach Cindy DeRocher, Alplena Sports Hall of Famer, lead a team of nine Ladyjacks. Their roster also has more depth than last season, but full of youth with only one sophomore returner Jasmyn Schultz. There are three former Wildcats on the team including Shelby Seaver and Emma Jore, plus Alcona Tigers standout Taylor Livingston.

“We have girls that can shoot the ball and who can post up,” said Schultz. “We have a very well-rounded team this year.”

Tipoff starts at 4 p.m. beginning with the Ladyjacks.
