Local health departments extend emergency order for essential businesses

ALPENA, Mich. — District Health Departments No. 2 and No. 4 issued an emergency order requiring screenings and social distancing precautions to be observed at essential businesses. The emergency order will now extend to April 30th at 11:59pm.

This includes Alpena, Montmorency, Presque Isle and Cheboygan counties in district four. Also, Alcona, Oscoda, Iosco and Ogemaw for district two.

Each operating business is required to conduct daily screenings of workers monitoring COVID–19 symptoms such as fever, cough and shortness of breath. Temperature checks are recommended and employers are required to keep record of employee travel and other health related information.

Violating the emergency order is punishable by six months jail time or a two hundred dollar fine.
