ALPENA, MI. – The longest running fishing tournament in the Great Lakes is just around the corner. The 48th Annual Brown Trout Festival is supported by a few dedicated volunteers and the entire volunteer community of Alpena and surrounding areas.
In recent days nearing the festival, a Nathan Cosbitt, a local fisherman, caught a remarkable Brown Trout himself. “Well it was the first cast of the afternoon. It was the largest brown trout that I have ever caught. It was a fun time to catch a fish of that size- especially using lighter tackle for Walleyes.”

Nathan said he’s looking forward to hearing stories from other fisherman throughout the festival. “It’s nice to see people and fisherman that you don’t see too often. I love to enjoy the week on the water so I would totally recommend it. It is always a great time for fisherman out there. ”

Anglers can enjoy multiple tournaments throughout the ten day event. You can join in on the fun on the Alpena Thunder Bay waters as the festival takes place July 15-24.
