League of Women Voters hosting candidate forum for state senate, representative candidates

People watch as candidates answer questions and discuss their platforms at the League of Women Voters Candidate Forum in Rogers City in the summer.

Alpena — The Alpena County League of Women Voters are set to host their first public, candidate forum ahead of the November midterms.

Northeast Michiganders will here from candidates running to represent the 106th district as a state representative. They will also hear from candidates running to represent the 36th district as a state senator. The public forum will take place at the Alpena County Library Conference Room. Debra Mischley from the league will moderate the discussions.

Democrat Joe Weir and Republican Jim Stamas are running for state senate. Republican Sue Allor and Democrat Lora Greene are running for state representative.

Folks in Alcona County who do not want to drive to Alpena can catch a live stream of the event at the Alcona County Library in Harrisville. The forum begins at 6:00 p.m. and runs until 8:30 p.m. The Alpena County Library is located at 211 N. 1st Street. The Alcona County Library is located at 312 W. Main St. in Harrisville.
