Law enforcement teams up with Special Olympics for fundraiser

ALPENA, Mich. — Michigan State Police Alpena Post is teaming up with Special Olympics Michigan for this year’s torch run. Residents are encouraged to sign up early for the fundraiser.

Community Service Trooper Ashley Simpson says, “This fall on September 9th we are going to be doing this law enforcement torch run for the Special Olympics. Right now we are reaching out to the public trying to get the word out to please save the date and plan to participate in the run.”

Registration is $25 which guarantees participants a spot to run and a t–shirt. The torch run goes down Chisholm St. to State St. and ends at Alpena Township station.

All proceeds will go toward Special Olympics area 3 to help support the athletes and their families. Pre–registration can be found at give.classy.org/alpena19.
