Lady Tigers beat Atlanta 55-22 to become NSL Little Dipper Co-Champions

HILLMAN, MI – Yesterday was a big night for Hillman Tigers basketball. Not only did the guys team get a big win against Atlanta to be one game closer to a perfect 20–0 season, but the Lady Tigers had the chance to become champions. If the Hillman girls team got a win against Atlanta, they would tie with Posen in the Little Dipper standings, and become Co–Champions alongside the Vikings.

This game was of high importance for the Lady Tigers. Posen already claimed the Little Dipper but a win tonight would add Hillman into that championship mix. First up, Hillman with the fast break. Saige Flaugher wide open down the court. She drives and makes a quick and easy layup for Hillman.

Now Hillman moving the ball quickly around the wing. Julia Taratuta down low, chucks it over to Hannah Crane. She fights through the defense and makes the great layup.

Hillman nearly loses the ball in the paint later on, but Hannah Armon recovers it. She then dishes it out to Nicole Barbeau. She quickly tries from three-point range and gets the shot to fall. She had 14 points on the night.

The Tigers now on defense. Saige Flaugher picks the ball off in the air then she takes off. Going coast-to-coast and sinks the layup while drawing a foul for the and-one. Saige led the Tigers with 20 points.

Barbeau waiting on the wing for the Tigers. She gets the ball from Elsie Flaugher then fires another three-pointer. She sinks it again with that shot.

Nicole driving with the ball once again for Hillman. She makes a quick pass to McKenna Klein. She’ll try for a catch–and–shoot play from mid-range. She puts it up and through for two on that jumper.

Hillman had control of the huskies for nearly the entire game, as the Tigers use some great ball movement. They find Julia Taratuta down low where she makes the nice shot despite the good defense from Atlanta.

Hillman got the decisive victory at home against the Huskies so the Lady Tigers are Co-Champions of the North Star League Little Dipper Conference. That one victory against Posen a few weeks back was as clutch of a win as you could possibly get. If they didn’t shut down the Vikings undefeated streak, this moment wouldn’t have happened. Congratulations to the Lady Tigers on becoming Little Dipper Co-Champions.
