June 27 is National HIV Testing Day — Local health depart to offer free testing

ALPENA, Mich. – June 27 is National HIV Testing Day. In response, District Health Department Number 4 is offering no cost and confidential rapid testing.

The health department will offer testing Monday June 28 in Alpena and Cheboygan from 8 a.m. to noon and again from 1 p.m. until 3.

Public Health Educator Cathy Goike said “knowing your HIV status is critical.”

An astounding 1 in 7 people with HIV do not know they’re HIV positive.
