Joshua Tree Yoga Studio offers ‘True Colors’ Class for Teenage Girls

Joshua Tree Yoga Studio is offering a class to teenage girls that focuses on self confidence and being themselves.

The class is called ‘True Colors’, and it is offered to girls aged 13 to 18. It starts this Thursday and will run on Thursdays weekly for five weeks. It focuses on allowing girls to be themselves through improving their breathing and movement. The studio previously held this program in April and it was largely a success. MyMichigan is sponsoring the class and it is free for up to 20 girls.

Studio owner Joanna Cooper says she is hoping the class can offer that help to girls who need it. “Being able to offer this to the demographics of teen girls that may not have other areas and outlets to be able to just really feel like they can truly be themselves, that’s what we hope that they can at least begin to learn and achieve,” she said. The theme of the class is based on a quote from Mary Oliver, that says, “Tell me then, what do you plan to do with this one wild and precious life?”

Each girl will receive a yoga mat and a journal to keep. The studio is also offering a more adult–centered series called ‘Re–Wilding’, which focuses on restoring the body’s natural processes.
