Jessica Jones signs to play softball with Delta College

HILLMAN, Mich. — Jessica Jones helped the Hillman Tigers Softball team win a regional title and compete in states for the first time since 2015. She was also named First-Team All Conference, and now the three-sport athlete is officially a college softball player.

Jones signed her National Letter of Intent today to play for the Delta College Pioneers for the 2021-22 season. Jones was a huge part of the team this year, homering in the regional playoffs and in their state tournament appearance. She looks to continue that with the right support group at the next level.

“Once I get in the grove, having teammates that have my back and my family supporting me, it will all go really smoothly,” Jones said.

Jones said she had always dreamed of playing at the next level. But after she tore her ACL and meniscus her sophomore year, there were a lot more obstacles in the way. She continued to push through and overcome the injury to be named all-conference this season, and Jones said it was her perseverance that makes the difference.

“After that, I kind of lost hope in it,” Jones said. “But after practices I found out that is what I want to do, and I’m thankful I never gave up on it.”

Jones says her parents are her main source of motivation, and- just like them- is going to study Early Education at Delta.
