Hillman church holds annual clothing giveaway

St. Augustine Church held their second day of their clothing giveaway on Saturday afternoon.

The church, located off of the Veterans Memorial Highway, has been taking clothing donations and giving them away for around 25 years now. They took donations on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, and had the giveaway on Friday and Saturday. The church says they do it in October so kids can have clothes when they go back to school. Darlene O’Callahan, referred to as the ‘sunshine lady’ of the church, loves bringing the community together this way. “We’re grateful for it, yeah, very grateful for it,” she said.

The church says that lots of clothes were brought in and that they nearly emptied out very quickly on their first day.
