Hillman Basketball Rallies to Take Down Alcona

HILLMAN, MI-  The defending NSL Boys basketball champions were in unfamiliar territory at home Friday night.

Down 11 in the second half the hosts turned to Braylon Firman. The senior knocked down seven three pointers, including six in the second half to rally Hillman past Alcona by a final of 59-57.

It was never easy for the Tigers, as Alcona came out hitting shots from everywhere. Garrett Somers got Alcona going in the first half and finished with 12 points. David Sharboneau led the way for Alcona has he scored 23, including five three pointers.

Alcona led 55-52 with 2:15  to go. Firman’s 7th and final three tied the game at 55. AJ Jones would give Hillman a two point lead with a couple free throws with 1:30 to go.  Jones would ice the game with two more free throws with 13 seconds remaining.

Hillman Coach Eric Muszynski praised his team and Sharboneau. “We had no answer for number 30 (Sharboneau), he had a heck of a game for Alcona. ” We had guys step up at the right time, that is why it is a team sport.”
