Hillman Basketball Poised for Another Big Season

HILLMAN, MI- The Hillman Tigers boys basketball team is coming off one of, if not the best season in the 18 years under head coach Eric Muszynski. In 2021-22, the Tigers won their first 22 games. A run that included a  NSL title and a postseason district championship. The run ended when they fell to Saginaw Nouvel in the regional.

Despite losing some key contributors from that squad, Coach Muszynski and his staff bring back key pieces that are poised to pick up the torch and continue from where they left off a year ago.

Senior Caleb Hiveley returns from a knee injury and his poised for a big season as an inside presence and defender. Uber athletic guard Trenton Taratuta just finished a big football season as a wide receiver for the Tigers football team, is poised to be one of the best scorers in the league this coming season.

” We lost some guys but when got talent coming back. We just got to stay hungry”, said Taratuta.

Muszynski, who also serves as the schools athletic director, cites the entire Hillman basketball program, which serves players from grades 3-12 as a major reason for the long term success of the program. “One thing we do have is that we have good tradition here. We do the same thing from our third grade youth program all the way up, so guys are accustomed to what we do.”

The Tigers open the 2022-23 season on December 5. When they travel to Gaylord St. Mary’s.
