GLENNIE, Mich.– Marie Schelley turns 101-years-old today, and to celebrate, her family and congregation from New Life Lutheran Church held her a parade on Sunday.

Family members, all masked up, joined her on the front lawn as the procession of cars wished her well. Schelly has led a long life focused on family and community. She earned a degree in education from Central Michigan University, and worked as a teacher in Rogers City and Alcona for decades. She was also the longtime organ player at her church and continues to play it every day at home.

According to her grand–daughter–in–law, Angela Sweet, Schelly is still an incredibly active woman.

“She mows her own lawn at 101. She… Yeah, I mean, she keeps busy. She pulls weeds, fills the bird feeders. To get exercise, she does laps around the island in her kitchen.”

Schelley also does her own canning, works on crafts every day, and plays cards.
