German Cruise Ship Visits Alpena
ALPENA, Mich. — A German cruise ship traveled into Lake Huron on Wednesday. “The Hamburg” stopped by Alpena for the second straight year. It’s carrying about 500 people on board, and some came ashore to visit downtown.
“For the moment we have like 320 passengers only, and crew we have about 170. It’s like a full load,” said a ship crew member.
After wandering downtown for a while, a German tourist said that Alpena reminds him of what a standard American city should be like. “It’s a very relaxed city I guess. A typical landscape city in the U.S.,” he said.
Their stay in Alpena was very brief, and according to crew members they plan to come back again next year.
