With the high school football season in full swing, the WBKB Sports team is traveling around Northeastern Michigan to feature a game of the week. Starting with the Hillman Tigers visiting Alcona to take on the Tigers on Friday.

Kicking off the season with a strong 3-0 record, the Alcona Tigers feel they have more to prove heading into this week’s game. Head Coach, Jason Somers, is expecting quite the showdown on Friday. “Hillman is always a good rival of ours,” he said. “They’re well-coached and don’t make many mistakes.”

Heading into Friday’s game with a 1-2 record, the Hillman Tigers understand what they need to improve. Head Coach, Cody Allen, knows his team is gaining knowledge on what improvements need to be made. “Just playing mistake-free football,” he said. “Just better tackling and trying to limit big plays.”

While both teams are no strangers to one another, players are expecting a showdown of the Tigers. Hillman running back, London Achatz, has high hopes for Friday’s game. “It’s going to be a dog fight,” he said.

The Hillman Tigers take a trip to Alcona to go up against the Tigers on Friday, September 16 at 7 p.m.
