Demolition Begins on Former Alpena County Jail
Crews began the process of tearing down the former Alpena County Jail today.
The property was sold in October of last year to Alpena Marc LLC, owned by Jeff Konczak, for just under $230,000. The old building was operational for around 70 years before the Alpena County Sheriff’s Department moved to a new location two years ago, as the old building’s structure began to fail. The new property is set to become a food and beverage park with drive-thrus at all three of the establishments that are set to go in. They are hoping to have at least one of the new restaurants built and operational by next month.
