Cookie sales face surprise obstacle

ALPENA, Mich.– Girl scout cookies arrived last week. We spoke with troop 4845 to learn about the first weekend of sales.

The girls of 4845 set up shop at Walmart and Fitzpatrick’s hardware over the weekend. Troop leader Evonne Jasman said they had strong sales given the circumstances.

However, there’s one obstacle they didn’t expect: the “Quarantine 15.”

“Previous customers have not bought [cookies] this year because of dieting, which I think goes hand-in-hand with the whole COVID and people being home and not watching what they’re eating. So now when cookie season comes around they don’t want those cookies because they’re more of a temptation.”

Cookie sales support the troop’s outings and programs throughout the year.

Jasman said there’s still plenty of time to pick up cookies if you missed them this weekend.

You can find where they’re selling by using the cookie finder on GSVSC.com.
