Concert for a Cause Held at Maplewood Tavern

At Maplewood Tavern on Tuesday night, Carole Cadarette performed music and held an auction to support Second Chance Animal Shelter.

A number of people came out to enjoy the music at the historic tavern, and also to help the shelter’s efforts to spay and neuter cats that come through.

“Part of our mission has been to rescue and re–home animals, but another part of our mission has been to sponsor spay and neuter programs,” said Fundraising Coordinator at Second Chance Animal Shelter, Leanne Bloom. “The only way we’re going to get out of overpopulation is spay and neuter, and that’s exactly what tonight is going to help us do.”

Cadarette reached out to Second Chance and wanted to help them get their overpopulation issue under control, and they came up with hosting the concert at Maplewood Tavern.

“We’re super excited,” said Co-owner of Maplewood Tavern, Melissa Gapske. “We love Second Chance Shelter and we get out there as much as we can. It’s a great program that they’re doing out there that we love to be a part of.”

The fact that Cadarette reached out meant a lot to the shelter, and they enjoy helping and supporting local establishments.

“This is something that we love to do, we love to get out in the community and we like to support different establishments in town,” said Bloom.

This was also the first ever concert held for the animal shelter, and Maplewood Tavern was happy to host. They also hope there are more in the future.

“We thought we would do this for the benefit of everyone, especially the program that they’re putting on to spay and neuter the kitties,” said Gapske. “It’s a great program to be involved in.”

The concert started at 6pm and ended at around 9pm.
