Cloudy early Thursday; Warmer this weekend

High temperatures today reached the middle 60s. Light winds out of the east kept temperatures a few degrees cooler near the shoreline of Lake Huron. Much of the day was spent with mostly cloudy skies and occasional afternoon rain showers.

Rain over the Chicago area this evening will move east and could affect places close to Saginaw Bay in the morning, including Iosco and Ogemaw counties. The rain is not expected to reach as far north as Alpena, although mostly cloudy skies are expected in the morning. Cloud cover will clear late in the day tomorrow, giving way to mostly sunny skies on Friday.

Low temperatures overnight will drop close to 50 degrees. A few showers are possible well south of Alpena in the morning, then some sunshine is likely late in the day with high temperatures close to 70 degrees. Light winds out of the northeast will keep temperatures a few degrees cooler near Lake Huron, again.

Tomorrow and Friday are looking dry and pleasant. For Friday, we will see mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the lower 70s. Daily high temperatures will warm this weekend, although the chance of showers will increase late Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms are expected on Sunday, but likely not a total washout, and high temperatures will warm to the middle 70s.
