Clearing skies Wednesday; Cooler temperatures for the rest of the week

In the early morning, a warm front crossed through the area producing a few showers and introducing a briefly warmer air mass. High temperatures today reached 79 degrees in Alpena, but cooler air is heading our way, Marquette reached only 61 degrees today and Duluth reached 50 degrees.

The cold front of the same weather system is currently entering western Lower Michigan, bringing rain and a risk of thunderstorms which we will see tonight. After the cold front passes through, clearing skies and cooler temperatures will move in.

Tomorrow morning will start with mainly cloudy skies and temperatures around 50 degrees. Increasing amounts of sunshine are expected throughout the day as the high climbs to 61 degrees. By tomorrow evening, mostly clear skies are expected as temperatures drop to the lower 50s.

High temperatures over the next few days will reach the mid-60s on Thursday, then cool toward the end of the week. A separate, weaker system coming in from the northwest will bring a few showers late Thursday-early Friday. After that, winds out of the northwest will bring in colder temperatures as highs reach only the middle or upper 50s over the weekend.

Partly cloudy skies are forecast tomorrow with highs in the lower 60s. Slightly warmer temperatures will move in Thursday as clouds increase. For Thursday evening through Friday morning, a weak system will bring a chance of showers, then clearing skies are expected late Friday.
