Cardinals couldn’t find their way out of the Forest Area

JOHANNESBURG, Mich. — The Johannesburg-Lewiston Cardinals boys basketball team made their season debut on Wednesday as they hosted Forest Area in a Ski Valley Conference matchup. In a tight, low-scoring game, the Warriors went on to beat the Cardinals on the road, winning 47-40.

The Cardinals looked like they were going to cruise their way to the finish line, as they had an 18-8 lead at halftime. However, Forest Area flicked the switch. The Warriors dropped 39 points in the second half to pick up their first win of the season.

Dominic Hart paced the Warriors in the scoring department with 17 points. Phoenix Mulholland added 11 points and Mekhi Marsh finished with 10 points. Preston Marlatt led the charge for the Cardinals in scoring with 16 points. Jason Richter contributed with nine points and Shawn Ziobron had five points.

This Friday, Johannesburg-Lewiston (0-1) will head to Bellaire (0-1) to battle the Eagles.
