Beware of money wire scam
ALPENA, Mich. — The Alpena County Sheriff’s Office warns the community of a money scam. The Sheriff’s Office received information of an individual calling local residents claiming to be a Deputy within the Sheriff’s Office. The person tells residents they have outstanding warrants and they need to wire money to avoid being arrested.
The Sheriff’s Office said police agencies never request a money wire.
They are investigating into the identity of the caller and their whereabouts.
