Best thing I saw today: A WBKB love story

ALPENA, Mich. — Before we leave tonight I wanted to try my hand at a, “Best thing I saw today,” story.

Four years ago I interned here at WBKB when I had much longer hair and a much smaller idea of what I was doing.

But I met a handful of amazing reporters while I was here, and two in particular stick out.

Lynzi DeLuccia who was a mainstay on the six o’clock show behind the anchor desk, and former sports reporter Jon Shideler.

Those two met here at WBKB when they were hired, and now, four years later, I woke up to a text from Jon this morning:

The happy couple is now engaged!

And in fact they are in Alpena visiting at the moment, so if you see them around town make sure you tell them congratulations and thank them for all the hard work they put in here at WBKB.

I’ve been extremely fortunate to meet some amazing people here that I still talk to everyday despite most being halfway across the country.

Once again a big congratulations to Jon and Lynzi, and you bet we will be sending a reporter to the wedding to cover it.
