Back log in the prosecutor’s office
ALPENA, Mich. — Bringing in outside help for Alpena’s prosecutors office was on Tuesday night’s agenda at the Alpena Board of Commissioners meeting.
The district court has a back log of dockets and warrants piling up which stems from an assistant prosecutor’s absence due to medical leave. As a result, the prosecutors office is asking to use funds that were not used on salary for the additional help.
Prosecutors are scheduling two and three trials on the same dates per week and the extra funding of more than $13,000 will help them out.
The board voted to allocate the funds to the prosecutors office.
