B.1.1.7 variant surfaces in Alpena County
ALPENA, Mich. — District Health Department No. 4 confirms four cases of the COVID–19 variant B–1–1–7 in Alpena County.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services identified these cases through routine active surveillance. The B–1–1–7 variant is believed to be more contagious and spreads more easily.
As children and teens engage in in–person activities like sports, parties, and classes, COVID cases continue to rise.
DHD4 Dommunity Health Director Devin Spivey asks the community to do their part to curb this spike. This includes continuing wearing masks and social distancing.
