Au Gres-Sims’ Caden Zeien awarded MHSCA D4 Multi-Sport Athlete of the Year

Au Gres-Sims' Caden Zeien earns MHSCA D4 Male Athlete of the Year.

Au Gres-Sims, Mich. — The Michigan High School Coaches Association awarded Au Gres-Sims senior Caden Zeien as the Division 4 Male Multi-Sport Athlete of the Year, also known as the Rich Tompkins Multi-Sport Award. Zeien played football, basketball and baseball all four years of high school.

“You dream about being one of the best athletes in any sport, any league,” said Zeien. “For something like this to come true is amazing and I thank my teammates and my dad for being there every step of the way.”

The honor was first awarded in 2015. The only other athlete from Northeast Michigan to receive the award was Oscoda’s Grant Huebel in 2018.

“It was pretty emotional,” said Caden’s father and football coach Chad Zeien. “I really didn’t think I would cry and get a little bit choked up, and I think it was finally that realization that it’s kind of done and it’s over. It was tough, but very proud and very happy.”

Zeien will study to earn a degree in nursing at Alma College where he signed to play football as a QB or LB.
