ALCONA COUNTY, Mich. — On Monday we mentioned that Alcona County made the top ten list for vacation homes and on Tuesday we revealed why it is a best kept secret.
Alcona County Broker Steve Shaw said they have a wide variety of recreational opportunities including the beach, paddle rivers and ATV trails. He also described Alcona County as a family oriented place but explains why being a small town works to their advantage.
National Association of Realtors Representative Gay Cororaton said last year was the perfect time to get a vacation home and she foresees this year being just as demanding.
Shaw added that some local municipalities are banning short term vacation rentals. He said a more elaborate argument could be made that banning vacation homes protects cabin resorts and hotels.
