ALPENA, Mich.– Alpena Public Schools is seeking permanent and substitute bus drivers.
Schools across the state are short on staff as well, from teachers to janitors.
Superintendent David Rabbideau called bus drivers the unsung heroes of the district.
He also said that applicants should have experience managing kids and resolving conflicts.
“They ought to be able to manage behaviors and interact and get to know the kids,” Rabbideau said. “That is certainly a critical skill our bus drivers need to have.”
Rabbideau said the bus fleet travels about 3,000 miles a day and about 565,000 miles a year.
