APS Now Over Snow Day Limit
The Alpena Public School District has recorded their seventh snow day, which is one day over the state allotted amount.
The schools have had a combination of four weather days and three illness days. They now have the choice to either make those days up later in the year or apply for a waiver. They do not know at this time what they’re going to decide to do, and are instead going to wait and see how the rest of the year plays out.
“It really depends on what the final days are; you don’t want to lose too many days of learning for kids, people also love their summers here and love their sunshine and lakes,” said Alpena Public Schools Communications Director Lee Fitzpatrick.
While online learning is more prevalent than ever and could serve as an option to make up school days, each student would have to bring home their school–owned computer, which could complicate that process.
