Alpena Wildcats blow past Bay City Western 71-50

ALPENA, MI – The Wildcats after starting their basketball season with a win at home against Ogemaw Heights were back on the court last night. Alpena would take on Bay City Western who are coming into this game 2–1 after a strong win against Bay City Central on Tuesday. It was shaping up to be quite a battle.

Well the Wildcats came out early and put on a show shutting down Bay City West in this one. First up Tucker Bright on the fast break is free from the defense to make a quick layup with his left for the Wildcats.

Next up it’s his older brother Cooper Bright off an Alpena steal. He’s got a lane straight to the basket and he lays it up and in. Those Bright boys would be a factor for Alpena all throughout this game.

Alpena would hold Bay City Western to just three points in the first quarter. Now Luke young with a great bounce pass to Mason Mumford. He rises up for the layup and gets fouled on the way up but still makes it for the and-one.

Once again the Bright brothers were at it again. Tucker gets it to Cooper and Cooper picks up an and-one for himself off a great layup despite the contact.

Bay City Western finally getting some offense near the end of the second quarter. Joseph Decuf the Sophmore near the corner puts up a three-pointer and makes it. He picked up six points in this game.

Devin Lamay with the ball now. He finds Cooper Bright in the corner. Cooper puts it up and cashes in for the three-pointer. He led the Wildcats in scoring with a whopping 24 points.

Now Kaeson Frost from Bay City West with the ball. He drives in and goes for a layup, and he’s gonna grab an and-one for the Warriors. He stayed tough fighting through the lane on the play. Frost finished with 10 points in this one.

Alpena on the fast break again and it’s quite a familiar sight from this game. Bright to Bright and the Bright’s score for the Wildcats as Cooper makes the layup.

Finally Tucker Bright is gonna go coast-to-coast on this fast break and flies through the Bay City Western defense for the great layup. Tucker would put up another 14 points for the Wildcats in what was a dominant performance from Alpena.

Alpena gets another great win to move to 2–0 on the season with the final score 71–50. Alpena will be back in action in their next game against the Cadillac Vikings tonight. The Lady Wildcats will also face Cadillac at home tonight at 7:00.
