Alpena Track & Field “Shakes Off the Rust” at Davison High School

DAVISON, MI – The Alpena Track and Field team kicked off the new season on Tuesday when they first competed at Traverse City Central. The team now made the long three hour trip to Davison High School for the “Shake Off The Rust” Invitational.

There were a lot of highlight performances from the Wildcats at this meet. Hayden Allen finished in the top 10 in the 3200 meter race.Hhe finished with a time of 10:39.49.

Hayden Bacchus ran the 1600 meter race and had a personal best time of 5:26.15.

In the 200 meter race, two of the top three racers were Wildcats. That was Cooper Bright who came in second with 23.49, and Julian Stevens with 24.31. Bright also won the men’s 400 meter race, with the best time of the day, 51.64.

In the 110 meter hurdles, Ryan Voltz and Joseph Sheridan finished in the top 10 on the day. Voltz had 18.52 and Sheridan had a personal record of 18.26. Ryan Voltz also was in the top 10 for the 300 meter hurdles.

In the long jump, two Wildcats finished in the top 10 and they both had personal bests. Devin 7amay had 18 feet and two and a half inches. Joseph Schuh had just a smidge over 18 feet.

Over to the girls, and Madi Szymanski was the top runner in the 3200 meter race finishing just .23 seconds under 12 minutes. She also won the 1600 meter race, finishing with 5:28.59.

Emma Dickins had a personal best time in the 800 meter race, finishing in the top 15 just .6 seconds under 2:35.

Allie Urlaub had a personal best at the 100 meter with 15.03

All in all, it was a productive day for the Alpena Track and Field team, massive congrats to every one mentioned and the entire team. Their next meet is a tri–meet and it takes place on Wednesday at Petoskey
