Alpena — The Alpena Wildcats hosted Traverse City Central for high school boys soccer. The green and white were looking for their first Big North Conference victory, and they got the win 2-0.
“We didn’t win the state championship. We beat Traverse City Central,” said Head Coach Tim Storch who defeated a Traverse City opponent for the first time in the eight years he has coached at Alpena. “Might be enough to put us in third place with a hope to get higher in the league.”
Grant Botha scored on two penalty kicks and Wenton Harrison and the defense completed their ninth shutout.
“I think that shows as a team we are strong,” said Harrison. “It’s not just our offense (and) it’s not just our defense. It’s the entire team working as a unit.”
The Wildcats are (1-2-3) for the season and have the chance to earn another BNC victory on Thursday, September 26th at Wildcat Stadium at 7 p.m.
